Hi I'm looking to buy my first MacBook in the coming days and have come to the conclusion that i might go with this..

15-inch MacBook Pro
2.3GHz Quad-core Intel Core i7
8 GB 1600MHz DDR3 SDRAM -2x4GB
500GB Serial ATA Drive @ 5400
8x Double-Layer SuperDrive
MBP 15" HR Glossy WS Display
No VGA Adapter
No Pages preinstalled
No Numbers preinstalled
No Keynote Preinstalled

I'll be using the MacBook mainly to learn final cut pro and watch 720p/1080p TV shows and movies.

Is this more than sufficient or do i need to be looking at 2.6GHz and bigger ram for final cut pro?

Thanks for reading.

The specs look fine, but I'd get the base hard drive, and then replace it with a 7200rpm drive when you get the laptop.

All things being equal the machine is definitely up to the task :)
