I just got a new 4s, it's a great phone.
But having yellow spots on the screen, i was wondering whether i should get an exchange now, or play more with it and exchange later.
my question is, am I eligible for exchange within 30 days?
if my phone is say, defect, how long does apple offer warranty?
Do they give a refurnished, or new phone?
thanks!

exchange now. I believe you get 14 days.

It will be a simple swap for a new phone. Warranty continues to be a year based on the serial of the new phone.

You have a one year warranty automatically when purchasing the phone, which what you're describing would certainly be covered under. You can also purchase Applecare+ which will cover accidental damage (for a fee) and extend the regular warranty and support by a year. You'll likely get a refurbished, however the 4S is new enough that they may give you a new one, YMMV.
