fish tank V external HD

I'm hoping someone has a solution for me.

I have an external Iomega HDD, it's plugged a surge protected extension block. On the otherside of the room I have a tropical fish tank plugged into a separate surge protected extension block.

My problem is that every time I switch the flourencent light ON or OFF I lose my external HD from the desktop. sometimes it comes back in 5minutes sometimes I have to restart my machine.

I'm running a g4 12" PB through keyboard and monitor

any thoughts appreciated

sounds like the fish tank is on the same power line as the HDD. Is there another power plug in the room that you can put the fish tank/HDD in?
