I know this isn’t that big of a deal, but it’s kind of emblematic of how I increasingly feel about apple software.

The fitness app has badges for when you hit different goals. But sometimes it just fails to register a met goal. Even though it’s plainly there in the activity history.

Combined with the activity ring widgets on the home and lock screens often failing to update for days, it’s as though this fitness app provides almost zero reliable value?

And I could extend this throughout apple’s software. Endless features just… not working. :(

I don’t open the fitness app on the phone. Like ever. I connect my watch to my Apple TV and follow that. I also usually don’t wear the watch unless I’m working out or I’m AT work. Honestly couldn’t care less about the achievements.

Im not sure one goal failing can be justification to call it useless!😂😂
I don’t have any issues with it, and as a general rule it has worked key for me.

The Fitness app on my phone works perfectly and the achievements work too (although not a priority for me). All I care about is tracking my steps and am not a watch wearer.

So... i'm glad other people are issue free... but its not really changing that its broken for me. and like i said, the achievement issue is a small but clear example of something incredibly basic that shouldn't be hard to make work, but in my case doesn't.

and like i also said, this extends to much more foundational things like the widgets not updating for days at a time.

The badges do often lag a bit–and won't register (in my experience) until the end of the day. I have not seen any multi-day delays. Perhaps try quitting and restarting the apps?

Restarting the app did suddenly make the achievement register (a week later!)

Of course then my homescreen widget displayed no activity again after restarting the app. I rebooted and then that started displaying.

So it does seem like I can eventually cajole things to synch up with combinations app restarts and reboots. Although it seems like this has to be done fairly frequently, and will just fall out of sync again shortly thereafter. I guess my point is it just seems extremely flakey overall on my device. :(

and it almost immediately went back to not updating any of the widgets. if this is a "just me" problem, any thoughts how on earth i can fix it? restarting every couple hours isn't a solution.

I don’t put a lot of faith into any of the widgets I’ve tried. I’ve actually become more meh on the overall look as I’ve been disappointed by them.

That said, I have seen nice looking setups in the Lock Screen thread. Just wish I could get a few jailbreak tweaks here into 16.1 and I’d be happy.
