I have got my new 500Gb hard drive for my MacBook Aluminium, ready to fit tonight.
Any preferences for transferring all my data.

My options are;

Clone old hard drive
Install Lion etc then use Migration assistant from my time machine
Install Lion etc, then manual copy of music, photos etc.

The Mac is a late 2009, so may have loads of old crap on the current install, so i am thinking maybe a fresh clean install.

Whats your thoughts?

cheers

I prefer Clean Install, but you have to know where and what data do you need.

For me, I back up Mail, Address book, iCal. Also, I copy iTune folder and Picture folder along with document folder.

Cool, that's the route I have followed.
I still have the time machine back ups and external hard drive back ups.
My music is in music match, so that part should be easy.
Cheers
