For several months I've had issues starting my 2008 Mac Pro.
The symptom was pushing the power button and hearing a click...
but no white led and no start up.
After a few tries, it would kick in and start.
It was getting more and more dicey.
It wouldn't start up after it had been on for a while and turned off.
On cold mornings, it wouldn't start until the room was warmer.
The latest stage was trying all kinds of things... SMC resets, pulling the power cord, holding the power button, etc.
Not good for a machine that is used for daily business.
The good news is that I replaced the power supply and it solved the problem.
Got a new PSU from a good vendor.
The installation is pretty easy if you are careful and have the right tools.
Such a relief.
Hope this helps somebody out there.
