I found this really neat solution that uses a live strong bracelet or one that is made similarly to fix your iphone 4 reception issues.
Most people have one lying around...and it would at least be a good temporary fix.

I couldn't find where/if someone else posted this, so I thought I'd share.

The only problem I could see would be buttons.
I bet a hole punch would be perfect for the volume buttons...and if you're handy with an exacto knife, your golden. :)

Not the greatest of solutions, unless you don't want access to the headphone jack or the dataport at the bottom, you want to cover up the noise cancelation mike, cover up the speaker and phone mike on the bottom, and you're putting constant pressure on the iPhone 4's switches.

I actually saw someone had successfully cut out spots on a LiveStrong bracelet where required. How they did it, I have no idea. After trying twice and failing, I ordered a bumper from Apple. Until it arrives next week, I'll hold my phone the "right way" for the antenna issue and hope I don't drop it. :)

Actually the main reason I wanted the bumper is to give the corners some drop protection--I've not dropped a call yet from the so-called "grip of death" issue.

A leather punch would work perfectly to punch the holes. Good idea, I'm going to try it out this evening when I get home. It won't fix my signal problem but it'll save me $30 on a bumper!

Leather punch would be perfect.
And the hole for the headphone jack where the noise cancellation mike is just make it an oblong hole to include it.

I want to go home and try this now. :p

Just buy a damn bumper ya cheap asses.

I wouldn't say cheap asses...being in the creative industry...I find myself inclined to fun projects.
This stuff makes for more interesting people.
