I'm sure this has come up with other models, but this is my first Macbook. I am coming from Thinkpads, which have always had great keyboards. I actually am quite enjoying the keyboard on the MBP 16 inch, which is kind of more....lively. But one problem I continue to encounter is the sharp edges at the front of the computer digging into my wrists/lower forearm while typing.

It's pretty uncomfortable and I doubt it's good to have that kind of pressure/pain, especially in those locations, in the long term. I even noticed slight numbness after typing for 30+ minutes. I know I could put my laptop in a holder and get a magic keyboard etc., but I backed up the brinks truck to get this 16 inch model instead of a 13 inch precisely so I could use it on its own.

Anyone have any ideas? Are there gel pads? In theory, the larger build should give your wrists a place to wrest, and be supported, but the edges do away with that benefit, at least in my experience. It doesn't seem unfixable, but I can't imagine writing thousands of words every day on this in the long term. Otherwise, great computer (until it's obliterated by the next ARM MBPs, but... whatever).

LOLed at “Backed up the Brinks truck”. I know how you feel.

Ran a quick search for “MacBook Pro wrist pad” and there were a bunch of links to possible solutions for you. Give it a shot and see if any of those products are what you desire.

I have a plastic snap on case with my 16". The case covers the front edge completely and plastic is far smoother to touch than the sharp aluminum edge. So that's how I solve the problem while also protecting the computer from damage.

Hah, I mean... yea, I did. Now I'm just going to enjoy the laptop and focus on productivity while ignoring all the ARM news for 2 years. Have a great machine, have things to get done. But... I need my wrists to not be numb lol.

I did google around a fair bit. I wondered if there were specific solutions that folks have found to be helpful with the 16 inch outside of a full plastic case. Gel pads or something.

Which model did you get? Why do you have it -- to prevent scratches? This is just a benefit? I guess a case would help with resale value down the road? I'll check it out, if it helps with this issue. Though I do like the aesthetics of the laptop naked -- or at least just with a gel pad or something.
