my iphone 3gs has been cracked for ages and is gradually getting worse. the touch screen is still fully working but tiny bits of glass are constantly coming off, especially around the home button, which itself seems ready to pop off at anytime.

ive been on ifixit and the parts are ridiculously expensive for me but ebay has full lcd display replacements for like £20 delivered. all with good feedback.

and along with a bunch of youtube video manuals im sure it'd be possible to replace myself, but just wondering if anybody would recommend doing it and purchasing the screen replacement from ebay?

cheers.

You don't need an LCD you need a digitiser replacement. To make the job really easy order it with a frame.

eBay is the cheapest.
