Well, I think I found out what was wrong with my mainboard. There is a small scratch on the surface of it near the edge. For electrical "wire" traces have been cut.

What is good for fixing these traces? I would try solder and wire jumpers, however the traces are so close together, that I do not think I could solder that closely without shorting out the wires together.

Any suggestions?

A graphite pencil is usually suitable for connecting traces, though if the traces are extremely small or close together it may be difficult to keep them separate. The good thing about using a pencil is you can erase your mistakes if you cross connect traces, there are some other products available but they're permanent so if you make a mistake you're screwed.
