Fixing startup disk without system CD/DVD

"Disk utility" appears to tell me that I have a serious disk problem which needs to be fixed:

The problem is that I don't have access to my MacOSX system DVD and won't get hold of it until a few weeks.
Is there any other way I can fix my hard drive?

Get TechTool Pro, burn Image to Disc, boot up from Disc and repair drive. Some of those problems that OSX tells you about, it can't fix anyway.
