Ok guys, long time reader, first time poster

I have an on going argument with a good friend...he says the iPhone line if the flagship iOS device, and I say it is is the ipad

His argument I s that the latest technologies go into the iPhone (a7, touch I'd, 1gb ram) and that the current iPads have the guts if the iPhone 5s....and that Apple rushed out the current gen ipad before the holidays to grab cash

I say that given the larger display, apple has done a great deal of engineering to give us the current iPads with the weight reduction

I have the ipad 4 (a we'll build piece of hardware) and only upgrade with even revisions of the ipad (I think the odd revs are only there to satisfy the upgrade cycle that Apple establish)... Can you guys give me ammunition to win this debate

Another vote for the iPhone. Sorry, I love my iPad way more, but the iPhone sells so many more units. And there's always at least one piece of technology every year that is exclusive to the iPhone -- like this year's touchID. Can't remember what it was in the past years, but I'm sure someone else can come up with a list.

Let me try....

Camera
Camera flash
Retina
Siri

I'm sure I could be wrong and/or forgetting something but it was fun to try!

iPhone without question. Just compare launch lines b/t the two products, not to mention sales. Plus the iPhone is always first to get new features.

Always?

A4 and A5 each went to iPads first.

But that is admittedly small compared to other features.

IPhone is the flagship device.

iphone, not even debatable. there's only one product that has iTouch, and that alone proves your friend is correct. The new ipads, released after the iphone 5s, don't even have that bit of tech.

The top-of-the-line iPhone is the flagship, currently the 5S. The iPhone is where iOS started and it's sales don't lie. I love my iPad too but the iPhone tends to lead the way while the iPad catches up in later generations. Retina and Touch ID are both examples of the iPhone getting marquee features before the iPad.

iPhone is iOS flagship device for smaller screen with the lesser tier being iPod Touch. In fact it's one of the best smartphones in the market

iPad is iOS flagship for larger screen with non cellular and the Mini being the lesser tier. Again it's one of best tablet out there.

Conclusion? iPad and iphone is the flagship on their own category. One is bathtub while the other is swimming pool. Can you mix them up just because they're both water container?

Nah, the appleTV is the flagship device. It is about to be overtaken by the ipod.

Come on - there is not FLAGSHIP device - why should there be?

And, even if there is, who cares?

iPhone comprises over half of Apple's revenues. iPad is a distant second. Which do you think is more important?
