Flakey Airport Disk with Airport Extreme Base Station

What's up with this thing? It's so flakey, it's unreal. Sometimes I see the disk, sometimes I don't. I thought I had the problem traced to an IP address conflict but I was wrong.

And when I finally see a disk, I get the dreaded "Original item cannot be found" error message.

Does anyone have Airport Disk working 100%? Do I have to re-format my disk to get it to work?

This is the only reason I bought an Airport Extreme Base Station and I'm about to give up on it.

BTW, I've tried two different external drives - a Nexstar and a WD MyBook.

Any luck with this? I see this was from a while ago.... but I'm having the exact same issue you are had. Airport Base Station connected to USB HD.... I've got a laptop connecting wirelessly, if that matters. Sometimes turning the HD off and on will get it to work, but not always. Frustrating thing is that the HD always shows up, but it's just not always working....
