Well, now there are reports that the new penryn black macbook are not painted black as the last gen macbook were, in the new penryn macbooks, the plastic IS black, from what reports are saying. So does this mean there is no more flaking going on? also, the fingerprints issue is almost no more.

I was under the impression that the flaking black Macbooks thing was just a hoax. I know a few people with black Macbooks, and I have seen no signs of flaking whatsoever.

I guess its just heavy use. Saw some pix at flickr about it, just scared me.

I assure you flaking on the older Blackbooks is very real, particularly on the bottom at the rear and corners. I don't have any flaking visible on the top of the lappy though.

I am happy to hear the black plastic is not painted over like previous iterations of the black MacBook. This morning I finally ordered one... :D

I had 2 black macbook and both suffered form flaking, one VERY badly, i was going to return it then it got stolen.

The second took 2 days before the flaking started, though very little.

IS IT 100% CERTAIN THAT THE NEW ONES DO NOT FLAKE???
