As we all know iOS doesn't not support flash websites from safari browser. I am getting the new iMac 27" next month (hopefully). I currently own a mini mac 2009, I use google chrome browser and flash works sometimes. Will this ever work on the new iMac I plan to watch stream football matches.

I have the last gen base mac mini, and I dont have flash install at all! However, chrome playing flash content for me works 100%.

So I have no idea it is not working sometimes for you! I'm on ML 10.8.2 and the latest chrome version.

Not perfect but ...

If there is Flash based content you really want to watch there is nothing that prevents you from installing flash player from the Adobe website and running it in browsers -including Safari- for Mac OS X on iMac or Mini.

You can install Click to Flash or Click to Plugin to control somewhat which Flash content loads - or select alternatives such as HTML5 when available.
