I've had my XS for a few days and used the flash to take a picture for the first time today. The flash was pretty dim, especially compared to what I'm used to with my old 8+... it barely lit the photo. When I use the flashlight, everything looks okay with the light, so I'm not exactly sure what the issue is. Has anybody else encountered this super-dim flash issue?

I’ve noticed the same thing on some pictures. If it’s a live phone you can change the key photo to a brighter one. It seems like the photo is being taken at the wrong time, towards the end of the flash when it’s too dim. Its not on all pictures though. I just took some tonight with flash and they looked plenty bright. Might have been fixed in 12.1 because I just loaded the beta yesterday.

In a dimly lit room, the flash on my XS Max underexposes the image by several stops. I hope Apple can fix this in a software update. I can tweak it in post-processing, but this shouldn’t be necessary.
