Hi all, I've been dealing with an extremely annoying problem the last couple of weeks, so now I'm coming to you guys before I just do a fresh install.

I'm running 10.6.8 on a ~1 year old MacBook Pro. Everything is up to date.

My problem is that I'll be watching a video on YT for example, and then I'll switch to a finder window, then back to the YT video and then all of the sudden my screen goes black and it continues to play sound, but it sounds like a skipping CD (sound from the YT video that is).

The computer is unresponsive after this, and I just have to force shut it down.

I have tried making a new account and I can still recreate the problem on that new account.

Disk permissions have been repaired, along with the Startup Disk and neither have seemed to have helped at all.

Let me know if you need any more information to help me out.

Thanks!
