Flash -- Cheap or Free

Is there some program out there that's cheap or free that does animations like flash?

I'm much too poor right now to be able to buy Flash... but it would be nice to have something similar.

Well, if you wanted to do programatic types of work there's a number of solutions out there. There's an entire site devoted to open source Flash solutions www.osflash.org. You'll find all sorts of solutions there, hopefully something will fit your need.
