Flash drive deletions dont free up space!!

Whenever I delete something from my flash drives, the item gets deleted but the amount of space available on the flash drive doesnt change...how do I fix this?

Even though you emptied the TRASH?

You need to empty the trash when the drive is still plugged in.

I did that and nothing changed...
