flash drive doesn't show up

Whenever I plug my flash drive into my macbook, the light on the drive illuminates (it's a sandisk cruzer), but the flash drive doesn't show up on the desktop. I've tried looking for it in disk utility, but it doesn't show up there either.
What do I do?
Is the flash drive completely fried?

Do you have another computer/device to test to see if it is working correctly on?

I have never had a flash drive not show up in Disk Utility.

I've tried it both on my osx laptop, and my windows desktop. When I tried it on Windows, the flash drive showed up on my computer, then quickly went away. I also tried to show hidden files, thinking that it may have been hidden, but it doesn't show up there either.
