I've got an Aluratek radio that is supposed to work with USB flash drives. The problem is that it won't read a flash drive that I've formatted with Disk Utility, but it will read one that is factory-formatted with FAT32. When I look at these two flash drives with Disk Utility, all the formatting info looks exactly the same:

Volume-
File System : MS-DOS File System (FAT32)
Partition Type : DOS_FAT_32
Disk-
Partition Type : FDisk_partition_scheme

So the question is, why does one work and not the other? One of the devices is powered, but I don't see why that would make a difference. I can't decide if I should say that the radio is defective and not working properly, or if the problem is caused by Disk Utility.
