Hi all, I'm after a recommendation for a drive that has large capacity >256GB, reasonable speed and good reliability but that is most of all absolutely as small as can be. A well respected brand too.
Needs to be USBC and shaped so that as it'll be permanently plugged in until a new Mac is purchased, it doesn't catch on things.
The idea is for it to be used as additional storage for a MacBook air that has reached the limit and has a full hard drive.
Similar to this that I found on Ali Express, (I have no idea why they've put those dimensions which are obviously wrong).

THX. Appreciate your suggestions.

Which MacBook Air do you have exactly?

If it is one that still has an SD-card slot, have you looked into (more or less flush) SD-adapters so you don't lose a USB-C port?
Something like this for microSD cards:
Or with internal SD storage:

The most recent thread:

Just in case you do not find a fitting flash drive, perhaps you could/must consider an angled extension cable.

Hi, it's the one with just 2 USBC ports and a headphone jack only, (2024).
But my MacBook Pro has an SD card slot that I have never used so I might look at SD cards anyway. I did see those adaptors but kind of strange there is a large selection of mini USCA type flash drives around.

Thx. Was looking for something even smaller. Funny they used to do very low profile ones for USBA.
One reason is, they were able to put parts of the electronics inside the plug/connector itself that gets inserted into the USB-A port.
In a USB-C connector there simply is no empty space for an additional PCB anymore.
