Flash games (Club Penguin) running slow on old iMac

My son has his own iMac G3 400mhz with 576mb RAM. This machine was perfect for his CD-ROM based games. Now, he is spending most of his computer time on flash-based web sites like Club Penguin and Webkinz.

The G3 iMac is very slow on these sites, both under Safari and Firefox. Is this just a limitation of the G3? Would a G4 do any better? Or maybe more RAM?

Does Adobe Flash like processor or RAM?

It likes graphics power, not processor or RAM. Sadly my G3 also struggles with some flash stuff, G4 PowerBooks seem fine though (the later ones anyway), so if you want an upgrade, that might be a good path...

Flash is processor dependent. A G4 would do a little better.

So we may see some improvement on a G4 Cube with a 32mb ATI Radeon?

Some, yes.

Unfortunately most of the G4's were also slow with Flash. I was never satisfied with any Flash sites until I bought an Intel machine. I don't know if thats because Adobe writes the plugin badly for PPC or if its the difference in how the chip works, but Flash on Intel is an entirely different experience.
