I have an ipod touch 2.1. someone told me that there is no curent way to install plugins to make stuff like shockwave and flash work. is there a hack to make flash work? if not, then here is a good project for you developers out there. after all, what is the internet without plugins?

No there are no hacks or mods to enable flash at the moment. But who knows maybe it will be a feature included in a future update, or someone brilliant will be able to develop something. We never know.
have any developers thought of or started working on the idea? if not, then it is our job, ney, DUTY as desidins of the internet to spread this idea. the developer who pulls it off would be a god... ok so dev team is the only gods at the moment (4 hours to destroy all of apples efforts at blocking lol). but most certanly, they would be demigods on the interbutt.
adobe and apple from what I have read dont have the best of relationship so that could be acounting for no flash support.
4 hours to kill all off apple's blocking? if you mean for the ipod 1st gen then yeh as the dev team have said many times the only way to stop them is to change the hardware in the ipod itself............... which apple did in the 2nd gen iPod

yes 2.0...which was the one they hacked within 4 hours of it's relese. either apples atempts to stop jailbreaking failed on a level never before concived by man, or the dev team have otherworldly hacking skills.
so adobe and apple hate each others guts ey? well then all the more reson for them to make an app for jailbroken ipods. it would be a good way to insult them. and because apple needs them for safari, apple can't retaliate with a lawsuit or anything of that nature.

actually adobe's proposal to apple was to allow flash only if apple had acrobat reader as its .pdf default reader. Which apple refused for obvious reasons.
I like it better without flash for 2 reasons.
1. Flash eats a HELL of a lot of battery. Tests that have been performed on Laptops/Notebooks showed a lot less battery time when flash is played (which is actually logical if you think that flash uses a lot of CPU)
2. Flash are all the ANNOYING ads on various sites. Ok there are a few sites that require flash, but I can live without them on my ipod Touch. Imagine opening a site and safari hanging because of all the annoying flash ads. It's all about speed and efficiency.

wasn't going over your head or anything. just thought the hack people might know something we didn't. I actualy made this thread more for the purpose of informing all the developers out there about the problem. hope I didn't ofende you
as for the argument that flash would be bad, couldn't they just design it so that you could turn flash on and off as you please? failing that, couldn't someone make an app that works as an ad blocker? I am waiting for the day that firefox decides makes an app, extention cababilities and all, that will fully bring the net to the touch. untill then, we need a way to bypass the many inherent failures of safari.

wait a minute... I just bought my Ipod... does that mean that jailbreak will fail even with the new pawnage 1.1 for the 2.1 software?

Well if it was in a black paper case is the old one. If in a clear plastic case , it's the new one. Also I think the new one comes with 2.1.1 preinstalled..so I think you got the old one

meh, got it off of amazon. it didn't say which kind. I didn't even know there were two diferent hardware configurations. I thought that they just upgraded the software.
it did come in a black box with a kind of velvety case inside. the model number is MA627LL. is that the old one or the new one? is so, I guess I lucked out.
any advantages to the new one cus it sounds to me like the only change is apples block of the jailbreak.
the new 1 is thinner, has a speaker, and phisical vol control.
its also cheaper so u got ripped off

yup, looks like i'm out a hundered dolars at least. whats worse, the new ones are cheaper than what I got the old one for. they didn't realy rip me off though. it's fate I supose whos to blame for this. I basicly bought the thing two or three weeks before the prices droped. well, I'm off to go twich in a corner somewheres.
Hey look on the bright side!! You got an iPod Touch (in the price we all got it) and you can jailbreak it!! So come out of your corner and start some jailbreaking.
so I now have apps to browse my system files and lol and behold, I found a folder labled plugins. aparently net plugins are posible somehow. prehaps it will come out in a later version. but why wait? if there is a folder, then their is a way to hack it
Back to the original topic, it appears adobe are/have developed flash for the iphone (and so probably the touch)

I do agree with the complaints about the ads we will have to indure with flash installed. That said though why can't they make it so you have to click to enable flash on the page kind of like how I have to do on my firefox/adblocker if I want to see an ad.
