So the latest version of Flash (11.3.300.257) was released around nine days ago, and yesterday I began to notice some serious issues.

I have a MacBook Pro (Mid-2010, 2.4, 4GB), run Mac OS X 10.6.8, and use Chrome as my everyday browser. When playing certain Flash videos (some embedded Blip videos) I noticed that my fans would spin up to over 4500rpm and my free memory would drop anyway from 2.5GB down to less than 500MB, which was not happening with the same videos just a few days ago.

The solution was to uninstall Flash:

Then install the previous version:

And finally to specify Chrome to use the systemwide version of Chrome just installed, and not its own embedded version, by typing "about:plugins" into the address bar, selecting more details at the top right-hand corner, and disabling the relevant version under the Flash plugin heading.

I hope this helps anyone experiencing the same issue. I'm also curious to know if anyone is indeed experiencing it, and if anyone recommends I send a bug report to Adobe? I've never done anything like that and don't know how much it helps. There certainly seems to be a lot of complaints surrounding the release, particularly with it breaking Flash playback on Firefox, so perhaps they already know they've botched the job and an update is on the way.
