Mac Mini running Mavericks 10.8.5, and I always use the Firefox browser. After downloading a Flash update from the Adobe website, I am denied permission to install it because it didn't come from the App Store. Can't find an Adobe Flash update on the App Store: it may be there but I can't find it. So, how do I update Adobe Flash?

Go to System Preferences > Security & Privacy > General and select "Allow apps downloaded from: Anywhere", then install Flash, then change that setting back.

Generally the app in question will appear in that menu too, with an option to "open anyway". This saves changing the settings, and saves an extra click too i guess ;)
