I recently installed a ZOTAC 680GTX 2GB that a friend of mine flashed for me with the EVGA ROM.
The card has been great except for 2 issues. I'm running 10.11.5 and issues occur with both Apple and Nvidia drivers
My system is a 4,1 Mac Pro 8 x 2.93GHz. The card is installed in Slot 1. I have a USB 3 (KT4004) card installed in slot 3.
1/ Expansion port fans run around 1400rpm instead of 800rpm. I've read a few posts on here and have come to the conclusion that it is just something I have to get used to as the Mac Pro SMC and 680 don't really talk to each other properly.
Solutions have been to open CUDA z or something which caused fan to ramp up then go down to 800rpm.
2/ This problem is more annoying. I have a 24" LED Cinema display attached via a mDP to DP adapter and an old 23" Acrylic display attached to the DVI-D or DVI-I ports via the powered DVI to ADC adapter.
Sometimes when the computer goes to sleep, the Acrylic display doesn't wake up and the system windows revert to 1 screen mode (it's as if the acrylic display doesn't exist). If I unplug the cable from the DVI port and plug it back in, then around 60-70% of the time the screen fires back up again and I'm good. 30% of the time it doesn't come back and I have to unplug and replug 5-6 times before it comes back to life.
Every time the cards drivers get an update or I perform an OSX install/upgrade, on reboot the screen on DVI port is gone. I have 2 boot drives on my machine, and when I switch between them I lose the DVI screen and have to do the unplug/replug again.
Does anyone else have these problems with a 680GTX?
I'm wondering if it is an issue with the DVI to ADC adapter, but my don't have another working screen to check with (a power failure killed my 23" Aluminium display).
Thank-you
