i've found clues to what may be going on with my macbook pro, but no other story seems to have the same combination of problems:

1. the computer has become abruptly nonresponsive (it's off, and stubbornly so)
2. connection to the magsafe power cord results in a rapidly flashing, dull orange light, unlike anything i've seen before. the phenomenon doesn't depend on the cord; i get the same thing using my wife's
3. the battery light indicates that it isn't charged

the macbook is 13" from late 2009

thanks for any help or advice. i'm thinking there's something wrong with the connection between the magsafe connector and the 'puter itself
