I'm running a fully up-to-date version of Mac OS 10.6.4 on my 15" MBP. When running a full-screen game in Steam, and command-tabbing to the desktop, a slight 'pulsing' effect is visible on the desktop background. The background flashes very quickly between its normal color and a slightly lighter hue - the menu bar and dock are unaffected. This happens to the whole desktop when a Steam game is running; apart from that, though, any click-and-drag box selections on the desktop also appear to flash, even when not in-game.

How can i stop this from happening, and could it have to do with the recent 10.6.4 graphics fix?

tl,dr: when running Steam, desktop background flashes quickly
