My Apple TV seems to died. The light flashes slowly about 8 times and then flashes rapidly. No output from the HDMI.

I've tried leaving it unplugged for a few hours, even rapidly unplugging and plugging it in (someone on the internet suggested that).

Anyone have any ideas?

Thanks,
Nicholas

Which version of the Apple TV?

Edit: Sorry, didn’t read the title well. Not sure what to do.

In my experience that means the device is bricked. It’s happened to me with a HD years ago. The  Store couldn’t get it up and running either. They just gave me another.

Was your Apple TV still under warranty? Mine is over 2 years old.

No it wasn’t. I had had it for over a year. And I didn’t have Care.

most likely your device has gone into DFU mode... connect to your computer and try to restore

have you tried holding home and menu button at the same time for 5-6 seconds for soft reset?

There is no way to connect a ATV 4K to a computer (no USB port). Yes, no effect. Thanks.

I called Apple support and they are going to send me a FedEx box. Once they get my ATV 4K back they will either fix it and return or send a replacement. All at no cost, even though it is over 2 years old.

This same thing happened to me last fall. I took it to the Apple Store and they fiddled around in the back for a bit and then just ended up giving me a new (refurbished) one. The one that went bad hadn't been under warranty for a while, so I was very pleased. And for icing on the cake, when I set up the new/refurbished one, I got the free year of Apple TV+.

Hi all. Any of you are from Singapore? I call and they ask me go to QCD and they offer a replacement at $258 which is ridiculous.
