Flashing photos in iMovie

I just synced a few images to music in iMovie, and I've set the last image to fade out. It goes black for a second, ten in the span of about half a second, roughly half of the images flash on the screen. The problem is they are not on the timeline at all, except in the first postion, where I want them. Can anyone help make them go away?
