flashing screen

When I close the laptop whilst switched on it goes to sleep as usual.
But when I lift the lid it should wake up but instead it starts flashing and closing them flashing again.
If I close it a couple of times it wakes up normally.
Is it a problem with installation (I have Lion installed) or is it something to do with the top as I did have problems with the hinges on my first MacbookAir.
Any help would be appreciated.

I had something like this on my old MBP. Might want to go to the apple store with it. They found a faulty logic board when this happened.
