I've tried one jet black aluminum and two slate titanium.

All three have flaws in the bezel around the screen. Spots that look a different kind of shiny when light hits it. No, they don't wipe off and they're in different spots on each watch.

Is it pretty much impossible to get one of these without a flaw in the bezel?

I'd try a Hermes, but I doubt they put anymore care into those? That's why I tried the slate titanium cause I thought maybe there was lower quality control on the jet black aluminum.

Thanks for any opinions. Yes, I know I shouldn't be so picky, but the light hits these flaws, and they really stand out. Maybe if I lived in a cave lol.

Hope everyone is enjoying their watches, they are very cool otherwise! :)

Got the jet black S10 on launch day. Aluminum frame still looks pristine. I wear it daily. There are a few micro scratches on the glass on the top frame though. I bumped it once or twice. :( The scratches are only visible under very bright light on a certain angle.

Are you referring to the metal body or the screen’s bezel?

Pretty sure it's the metal body. In the area just past the screen where it's shinier and flat. It's a very thin area on this generation.

Thanks! Yeah, this is right out of the box flaws before I even put the band on it.

Oh! That’s bad then. Guess I got lucky with my watch… or you really got unlucky with the ones you tried! Reminds me of when people got lucky or not with dead pixels on early LCD displays.

Okay I gotcha.

I maybe had a few super small imperfections that I only noticed maybe a month or so after getting it. It was on the side opposite the crown. There are more now on all the sides, but likely due to wear.

I inspected the watch when I first got it, but I’m only able to notice the imperfections in exactly the right light, at exactly the right angle (gotta contort my wrist around to see it all)--which is why it went unnoticed. Just casually looking over the whole watch right now: no imperfections are noticeable. Looks pristine. Having said that, mine isn’t a Slate model so I’m sure that helps.

If you’re saying it’s highly noticeable, I would keep returning until you got one that isn’t. Can't imagine paying $700+ for a watch with slight damage.

Note that the Hermes edition doesn’t have a PVD coating: scratches are going to be worse on that model.

Thanks, appreciate it! I didn't know about the no PVD on Hermes, so that's valuable to know too!

Apple can not make everyone happy. Glad I am not as sensitive as others.

You just don't understand luxury goods. On a cheap watch, they are called scratches and are bad. On an expensive watch they are called a "patina" and are good. 🤣

I will say the benefit of no coating is it can be polished. Don't think that's worth another $700 though lol
