I have this big bowl of Flaxseed and just don't know what to do with it.

Anyone here have any good recipes/ideas?

I could have sworn we've discussed this before. Or maybe I'm just imagining.

Anywho, I like to throw it into pancake batter. It's also pretty good sprinkled on ice cream and watermelon. I knew some folks that would stir it into milk and others into water (it actually isn't that bad). The nice thing about flaxseed is that it goes well with almost anything that can handle the slightly nutty flavor since the ground seed is so innocuous in texture.

If you just throw it in whole, you'll poop most of it right back out....

Grind it up fine with a coffee grinder or food processor, then you can incorporate it into most anything.

I put some ground flax in a glass of water and let it swell up a bit, put in some cranberry or blueberry juice for flavor, and drink it down as a meal replacement. (optional additions are hemp protein powder, greens powder, chia seed)
The bulk of the hydrated flax seed makes you feel 'full'.

I usually sprinkle some on my yogurt. Sometimes I'll sprinkle some in the dough when I'm making bread.

Most of the nutrients in the flax seed will go unused by your body unless they are crushed or ground... so chew really well or crush them before eating.

EDIT: ah well, I was too slow, just do what CanadaRAM suggests :)

I put it in soups, oatmeal, cereal, homemade smoothies, and spaghetti sauces. It's flavor isn't so overpowering that it takes over the meal.

Grind fine in coffee grinder and spinkle over wheat bread that is already covered with honey. It blew me away how good it tastes, much better than peanut butter. This is making me hungry...
