The past couple of weeks I have been getting a strange intermittent problem in Safari. I will go to google to enter a search, and when I start to type in whatever it is I'm looking for, the screen starts to flicker. It will allow me to type a couple of letters, but once I get past, say, 7-8 characters, it will automatically 'delete' any new characters I type while the screen flickers, and I can never get a search term any longer than those original first couple of letters/numbers. I have also noticed more rarely that sometimes I will get strange display issues where a webpage will not be centered properly and part of the screen turns black with strange lines of different colors, sort of like tv 'snow' but in colors, if that makes any sense. I am guessing the issues are related since they have the flickering in common and they seem to have started happening around the same time.
I am running a 2012 classic Macbook Pro-very little problems the whole time I've owned it. I recently restored from a Time Machine save back to Yosemite 10.10.1 since 10.10.2 really caused issues with the wifi taking forever to reconnect every time the screen went to sleep, which was incredibly annoying.
Anyone have any ideas? I pretty much use Safari exclusively, so I don't know if the same thing would happen in Firefox or some other browser. It seems like it mostly happens on Google, but I think I remember it occurring on Amazon or eBay also. Usually a reload of the webpage will correct the problem, but not always. Sometimes I have to close the whole tab and open a new one to get rid of the issue. If I had to guess, I would say it happens about 5 - 10% of the time I go to Google, and it seems to come in bunches where it will happen a lot back to back and then not happen for a long time.
