Yes, the dreaded flickering screen that plagues all Mac laptop models...
I bought my laptop used on eBay a few months ago (no warranty). I think it's about 2 years old (???). I got it for cheap considering the hardware specs. I'm thinking the screen problem is partially the reason; which the seller conveniently neglected to mention. Anyway, now that I've bought it for so cheap, I'd really like to get this thing sorted once and for all.
I bought a used (in good-working condition) inverter on eBay. This did not solve the problem so I decided to buy a new one. Needless to say, the flickering is still as apparent as ever. There may be a slight improvement but anything is certainly negligible. However, the flickering was fine for a few days, which led me to wonder if possibly there is a bad connection or the inverter is burning out for whatever reason. If the latter were the case, though, the flickering should continue to worsen, which it doesn't.
So, the other most likely culprit is the screen itself. However, I emailed an eBay seller and he assured me that the chances of a faulty screen were minimal. I've even disassembled the screen to make sure everything was connected properly back there. All was fine. I've also checked the hard drive cable.
I was reading around about this a few months ago and the inverter was always cited as the part to replace. I've tried a number of other easy-fix things as well, none of which helped.
Thanks,
Michael
