This Summer, we will be visiting a lot of places in Asia. Since we figured it would be cheaper to book some flights in Asia... I thought that I should have the flight booked from SF online.

Currently, I'm not sure which options I should choose.

Note: Price is for 3 passengers including tax.
CX=Cathay Pacific, SQ=Singapore Air, MH=Malaysia Airlines.
SFO=San Francisco, HKG=Hong Kong, KUL=Kuala Lumpur, SIN=Singapore

Option 1- about $4140

SFO-KUL (CX)
KUL-SIN (Jet Star or Air Asia)
SIN-KUL (Jet Star or Air Asia)
KUL-HKG (CX)
HKG-SFO (CX)

Option 2- about $4240

SFO-KUL (SQ and MH for HKG-KUL sector)
KUL-SIN (Jet Star or Air Asia)
SIN-KUL (Jet Star or Air Asia)
KUL-HKG (MH)
HKG-SFO (SQ)

I heard that the new seats on CX's 744 are very uncomfortable in Y. Is that true? How does CX compare to SQ? All of these flights will be between June and August.

For those of us who do not memorize airport / carrier names, could you please include city / country names?

I had absolutely no problem reading that. ;)

If you decide to go SFO-KUL or HKG-SFO, definitely choose SQ. Some people don't like how consistent their service is, however they almost always have comfortable seats, excellent service (all. the. time.) and a great IFE system.

(read: I have never been on SQ. I just read http://airliners.net a lot.)

AirAsia X may use old AC A340s on those routes, which I have been on. In Y, they're pretty awful. I might avoid them...

His springing pot rusts with a news.

I'll be going through Singapore in early July, we may cross paths.

I have no idea how I'll get there, I'm not choosing the flights, nor am I paying for them so I have no say in the matter.

But I plan on flying from SLC to Singapore in early July, and from Guam to SLC in late August.
