For the last few months my “floors climbed” has been a crazy amount each day, up to 400. For reference I do about 20-30 a day on average, certainly no more than 50.

I have an Apple Watch SE 2 and an iPhone SE 2 and, looking at the data sources, both devices appear to be contributing flights climbed. This is affirmed as my watch is currently returning from a service (during which no fault was found thus no fix applied) and my phone has been counting too many flights independently of the watch.

I have searched for the issue online and found numerous users with a similar issue but it seems to be unique to their watch, not their phone, and one of the several fixes online - all of which I have tried to no avail - worked for them.

The fact that my watch and phone are doing the issue independently suggests maybe an issue with software or maybe my user settings? As it’s unlikely both devices have developed hardware issues at the same time?

Here is a list of what I’ve done:
- cleaned the watch
- tighter watch band
- un-pairing and re-pairing the devices
- calibrating my health tracking
- letting both devices run out of battery power
- health data all correct and up to date

Any ideas would be gratefully received.

Thank you.

The info I’m about to give won’t make you happy.
I gave up using iPhone for steps and stairs 8 years ago because it wasn’t reliable for me.
