Anyone having problems with the watch not accurately reflecting flights climbed? Been climbing 10 flights down everyday with the Ultra and it’s only recording 3.

Quick search and seems that others are seeing this issue but no resolution?

I’ve had that issue with every Apple Watch I ever owned lol. I’ll climb a legit flight of stairs and it won’t count it, but counts me getting in and out of my work truck (semi type truck)

As above poster said, this is a problem with Apple watches in general, not just ultra. I've climbed the same sets of stairs on different days and gotten different numbers of flights, including 0. I suspect it has to do with how fast I move, whether I take a pause along the way, etc.

It looks to me that if you use the "Indoor Walk" workout type, it does not really count the flight; at least that's what I'm finding when I search the internet. I too seem to have that issue. I work on the 9th floor of an office building and I don't use the elevators. When I use the Indoor Walk workout type, the Watch doesn't seem to record any flights. But, if I don't make it a workout, flights are accurately recorded.

So I'm wondering, when I'm actually doing indoor walking, what workout type do I use to record the workout so that flights are also recorded?

I don't know if there is a way. I workout using stairs too but I use the Stair Stepper workout feature. It also doesn't track floors but I figure it's probably the closest exercise profile.

kinda crazy, if you ask me. Why wouldn't Indoor Walk track flights? Examples by Apple for when to use Indoor Walk includes walking in the mall. Well, malls can have stairs and many mallwalkers are going to walk those stairs. smh.

I used an escalator the other day in the mall the other day and my watch recording me climbing a flight of stairs. I think that it was a bit goofy as I had not climb or descending a flight of stairs that day

I think it used to detect flights walked up or down by atmospheric pressure. The GPS would be more accurate but most stairs are enclosed. I live in Florida and remember when we had a hurricane it registered like 30-40 flights climbed and I had not stepped on a single stair.
