Up until a few weeks ago, I was a flip phone user, however, a relative passed away and I was bequeathed an Iphone 7 plus. It certainly has some interesting features, and I'm sure I'll use it, but I'm having a tricky time finding the right case.

It came with a Gear4 cover, which has a rubberized edge and back, but no front cover. Even though I'm not an iphone user yet, I still know exactly what I'm looking for in a case, but I cannot seem to find it even after much searching. It doesn't help that many accessory manufacturers do not adequately describe the covers they're selling. I can however describe exactly what I want or need in a case based on what I've read so far, and I'm hoping some tech savvy MacRumors members might recommend exact models to buy. Here's my criteria:

1. Rubberized protective edge.
2. Thin protective glass front that does not affect the screen quality (I know there are some plastic fronts, but I would really like glass) that can be replaced if scratched or broken.
3. Retractable stand in the back to allow it to stand up on a desk, preferably in both portrait and landscape orientations if such is available. I have only seen landscape stands on cases.

I did buy a Tucano book style case that protects the front with a flip cover, but I find it inconvenient to hold when taking pictures, and I'd really like to have screen access all the time. I am open to a two stage solution if that is necessary, i.e., buying a case with a stand in the back, and a separate glass cover, but it's unclear how compatible they might be. I have a feeling that this is what some iphone users do, but I'm still pretty vague on this aspect. I would appreciate any insight.

For the screen you can get a tempered glass screen protector on amazon for a few bucks. Not too sure if many cases come with built in screen protectors anymore unless it’s like a Lifeproof case or something.

As for the cases, my favorite rubberized case is the Apple Silicone and as far as something more rugged or something with a stand I would check out Spigen or Caseology since they have a huge variety and a lot of them have have pretty good kickstands for really good prices.

Also I’m very sorry to hear about your relative.

Thanks for the reply. Will scout out the Apple, Spigen, and Caseology brands.

I agree, get a tempered glass screen protector and then a case of your choice. My husband and daughters all love Speck cases - not too bulky but decent protection. The Manto screen protectors on Amazon are great.
