For your downloading pleasure, Flip4Mac 2.0.2 is here (upgraded from 2.0.1)

Claims to offer "more support for websites and browsers" (previously, Flip4Mac was officially Safari only) Doesn't say which browsers, but I would presume that Firefox is a likely candidate. Haven't tried it yet on FF.

Since Flip4Mac's browser plug-in is still a work-in-progress (something the Flip4Mac folks acknowledge and actively tweak along the way) I would expect more updates in the relatively near future as they iron out code compatibility with various website implementations of Windows media.

Once again, sorry Universal Binary fans, but it's looks like it's still PPC. Flip4Mac has said in the past that they intend to release a UB version soon.

Is it possible to listen to .asx streams?

It won't even let you install it if you have Intel. The last one let you install it and run quicktime under Rosetta and it worked fine. Oh well, gotta wait for the UB now.

Yes it does fix Gecko based browsers such as Firefox. Something myself and Mozilla have been lobying for quite a while. \o/

I didn't realize how dependent I had become on this software until I bought my mbp and and found that it won't install. I hope a universal is around the corner.

Well, it's possible (the plug-in handles asx) but it depends on how the stream is implemented/coded on the website. If there is an asx stream that you run into that 2.0.2 doesn't handle, you can post the url on Flip4Mac's forum and they can put it on their to-do list for 2.0.3.

Does it still crash Safari and Quicktime on close of a movie? Has anyone tested that out yet?

That sounds like an issue that occurred when Flip4Mac 2.0 and Quicktime 7.0.4 (the current version) were released, literally on the same day. The issue was fixed as of Flip4Mac 2.0.1, so if you're saying that is happening now with QT 7.0.4 and Flip4Mac 2.0.1 or greater installed on your system, that's unusual.

Haven't had much trouble with F4M. Sometimes Safari and QT quit when some videos dont load. Hopefully this fixes that. Always down with an update.

MR needs a slogan.

And a jingle.
I'll do it as long as I get to write the theme song and sing the theme song:

Macrumors is a place
A place in cyber-space
do-do-do-do-do
Where Mac users meet and talk
And do some other things
do-do-do-do-do-do-do-do

I haven't had many problems with Flip4Mac on Firefox - maybe I'm not too picky, but Windows media files seem to play OK, albiet grossly off-center from their original frames.

Is that sung to the tune of "Willie Wonka"?

I wish they would make a flipformac version for real player.
