Flipover Cydia app not working?

I am jailbroken, running IOS 6.1 on iPhone 5.
This app mutes the ring when you turn over the phone. However, it only works when the phone is unlocked. If the phone is locked with the slide to unlock only, or with the pin lock, then it won't do anything.

I have sent the developer an email, but he has not got back to me as of yet.

Any ideas? I have tried with all the options in the settings app (there aren't many)

I'm assuming the app uses the proximity sensor to know that the phone is face down, therefore would need to be unlocked to work. Unless it's advertised differently.
