So I want to clean all of the gunk that may have gotten into the laptop over the past few months, and I was wondering. Would it be safe to flip my macbook upside down and just LIGHTLY shake it so that any gunk and crap might fall out? Or would that cause damage? Thanks.

Why don't you just lightly immerse it in water and put it on your roof to dry?

Seriously... buy some canned air (gas duster) and just blow all the "gunk" away :)

A gentle shake won't hurt it...provided it's turned OFF first.

(Seems obvious, but you'd be surprised how easy it is to forget that!)

Won't that move the gunk to a corner of the laptop? or just push it to the side?

Well what kind of gunk are we talking about?

Canned air basically lifts all the crumbs and dust into the air and then you can just vaccum whatever came out. Just use the nozzle close to the keyboard.

Why not use a vacuum cleaner?? :D Just Joking!!

Follow Bluelight's advice, it's quite good.
