Floating ads appearing in Safari (on Mavericks,) when surfing net

Hi all,
I'm getting ads appear on (pretty much) every webpage, when using Safari.
Please see the attached pictures

They're simple enough to close, but that doesn't make them any less annoying. Any tips to get rid of them?
