Any idea what the flood illuminator does? It must help Face ID work in the dark? It can't be a flashlight that blinds you in the middle of the night, can it???

The demo certainly made it look like a light shining on your face. Looking at the sensors on front the "Flood Illuminator" is separate from the Infrared camera, I assume though it shines IR light for the IR camera to see in the dark. But yea the picture looks like she is been blasted by a bright light not a great image and adds some confusion.

Think night vision goggles with an infrared light. In total pitch black environments with no light, infrared acts as a normal light when viewing through the night vision goggles. It's just not visible to the human eye.
