I'm looking to replace my MacBook Pro Retina with an iMac Retina... 90% of the time I use my MacBook on the couch... Does anyone know of some sort of floor stand that would allow you to attach the iMac screen to it, thus allowing you to use it while seated in a chair other than at a desk?

You want to connect your Macbook to a retina iMac and use the iMac as an external display?

Here

Buy an iMac with the VESA mount, and then search the net for a VESA floor-mount thingy. Or, even better, one on an arm that attaches to the wall near your sofa. That would be quite cool...

The VESA mounts for the 2012 and 2013 27" iMac should fit the retina iMac. They're very similar in those regards.

There is no VESA mount for the 2012 and the 2013 iMac, unless I am missing something. You cannot take the stand off the normal riMac and slap on the VESA mount from Apple, without doing some serious case modifications.

27-inch iMac (late 2009, mid 2010, and mid 2011)

You have to buy the riMac with VESA mount that was linked to earlier, which costs $40 more.

Rain Designs made a cool stand desk for the iMac G4, it was a bit expensive though.

The legs look very similar to the chrome arm of the G4 and it the white plastic. They also made a model, with shorter legs, for sitting. I've seen the iMac G5 using it also, but its been a while. I believe they still make it, its on their web site.
