I have 3.5" USB floppy disk drive which comes in handy when I need to transfer files over to an ancient Atari ST computer (which can take MSDOS formatted floppy disks). I've done this several years ago and it's worked fine as long as I've stuck to the MSDOS format, but this I kept running into problems...

My Mac complained about the disks formatted on the Atari not being readable, so I was asked to initialize which I did (in Disk Utility). Likewise, disks formatted on the Mac "MS-DOS (FAT)" aren't accepted by the Atari. These are 720 Kb (DD) floppy disks, so I'm wondering if something has been changed in OSX regarding this since say the days of OSX 10.4 (Tiger)?
