South Florida
i hate floriduh. failure power and light always turns the power off after a little bit of rain, it's worse than anything else, they are stuck in the 80's, like most of the state. it's really annoying and just shows how backwards and behind most of the state is. ugh, it's annoying. good thing i have this macbook, otherwise, it would have been much worse for me.

anyone else with brownout tales?

Nope. It rained really hard from 3-4 pm here in Melbourne but power stayed on... must just be south florida. Maybe a stupid car wrecked into a light pole near your house.:)

It's been okay so far this year but then again hurricane season hasn't hit yet. But yeah...Florida sucks. I've lived in Naples for 12 years now and I'm sick of it.

Could be crappy wiring somewhere. This morning in Miami when it was raining, my office's lights blacked out for a fraction of a second...but then it was OK. I seriously doubt FPL has anything to do with it. ;)

i had lights off for two weeks last time. and then they run up the bill.

oh, another stupid thing about floriduh...no car, you can forget about getting any kind of job, and probably why i'm hightailing it outta here first good chance i get.

You should try a little further north, furcalchick. We are much more laid back in East Central "floriduh" than the wound up types down south... Most of those folks are actually tourists who stayed and never got acclimated to our culture, thus they transformed south florida to the crowded noisy crime-pits they moved away from. This is where it's at. :)

u on the space coast?

I don't particularly love Gainesville, but I do have to say that I do not think I have had more than ten minutes of power outage in the past three years -- including the 2004 hurricane season (which began right after I moved here). Course, I live next door to the two major hospitals in Gainesville, Children's Medical Services, etc, etc. ;)

Hmmm. never thought of that, but there is an airport and a NWS station, police department and fire department within a mile radius of my house, guess it helps!
