i just opened my mb, waking it from sleep.
WHOOSH! outgoing mail sound.

nothing in mail. mail is offline. i went online and nothing sent or received.

AND NO, i don't have any ical alerts/reminders. i don't use ical.

WHERE IS THE GHOST?

the only things i had open at the time were activity monitor, firefox, x-shelp, itunes, mypopbarrier, grab, growl, mouselocator, lazymouse. mail was open but set to "offline". ical scheduler was not open, as i don't use it.

when i opened my mb from sleep, i heard the mail sent "whoosh" as if i had sent mail.

i was wondering if i had some virus or something that was sending mail from the background unbeknownst to me. but nothing is in my "sent" folder.

yes, mailpopbarrier used to make a beep everytine it picks up new mail, but that was fixed in the latest revision. it works perfectly now.

the idea behind it is that you get to preview/delete msgs from the server before they get downloaded to your computer.

yes, it could be a little prettier, but it does what i want it to do.

It won't be a virus, but I agree with mkrishnan that it's probably one of your open apps. If it really bothers you, I guess you could try closing one at a time until you don't get the sound upon wake up, but I dunno if it's worth it. :)
