Believe it or not, I have a ton of file formats on my comptuer and it is a pain to convert them, and knowing macs, I don't think it will be possible yet.

Is there a codec to be able to export/allow flv and rm files to work in idvd and imovie without having to convert them?

Perian can indeed decode, amongst others, FLV. This should theoretically allow you to use unmodified FLV files with iLife apps. RealMedia is another story though, the only thing I've ever managed to find to play RM is RealPlayer itself. I wish they made a quicktime plugin instead of an ancient app!

I can view them. I can view rm files in real player and flv can be converted and/or watched with vlc, so that isn't the problem.

I want to be able to export and import those type of files into program and out of programs with this formats using quicktime and imovie.

ffmpegX can decode rm format ...

I don't want to convert out of it, I want to covert to rm. I can convert out of it from rm to something else.

plus I tried it and it made all the converted files into a 0 KB file.

^ dunno of any other software currently on mac platform that deals with rm .. sorry.

maybe a search on sourceforge would return something worth looking at ...
